Stewart Munson is a former national mountain bike racer, road racer, and
trials rider. Now that his years of living out of his old Volvo wagon
are over, he races his four year old, Toby, and two year old, Woody,
around the yard (Toby usually wins).
His racing experience led him to believe deeply in the importance of
fitting a bicycle to a rider's physiologic requirements. Stewart has
attended fitting schools such as Fit Kit, Bio Racer, Serrotta, FIST, and
countless conferences on bicycle fitting. He also founded and runs our
custom frame company, Steelhead Bicycles in 1998.
Stewart works with a number of the engineers and product developers at
Trek, LeMond, Bontrager, Merlin, Litespeed and Quintana Roo to help
refine product design and give feedback on new product ideas and frame
geometry.
With over 20 years of real bike shop experience as well as nine as store
manager here at Maplewood, Stewart decided to make this shop his
permanent home. He purchased the business in 2005, and hasn't slept
since.
