Maplewood Bicycle Staff

Stewart Munson - Owner / Fitter /Designer

Stewart Munson is a former national mountain bike racer, road racer, and trials rider. Now that his years of living out of his old Volvo wagon are over, he races his four year old, Toby, and two year old, Woody, around the yard (Toby usually wins).
His racing experience led him to believe deeply in the importance of fitting a bicycle to a rider's physiologic requirements. Stewart has attended fitting schools such as Fit Kit, Bio Racer, Serrotta, FIST, and countless conferences on bicycle fitting. He also founded and runs our custom frame company, Steelhead Bicycles in 1998.
Stewart works with a number of the engineers and product developers at Trek, LeMond, Bontrager, Merlin, Litespeed and Quintana Roo to help refine product design and give feedback on new product ideas and frame geometry.
With over 20 years of real bike shop experience as well as nine as store manager here at Maplewood, Stewart decided to make this shop his permanent home. He purchased the business in 2005, and hasn't slept since.

Bill Chase - General Manager/ Retail Sales

With a degree in library management this former engineer has an eye for detail. Don't let his charming smile and obese size fool you, at mile 8 of 10 mile ride he can make you cry. He is not a certified Serotta fitter and has absolutely zero professional fittings under his dress. Combined with his average of 8 miles a year he is a bike fitting tour de flop. He specializes in the adult tricycle fittings. Just kidding.... Bill is our fearless leader and used to be part owner of Mesa Cycles back in the good ol' days. He's been riding bikes for darn near 3 decades and has always had the eye for the all day in the saddle fit and equipment. He is the straightest shooting son of a gun you've ever seen. It is rumored that he has held every job represented by the Village People.

Tim Ray - Advanced Fitting Services Director

Tim Ray eats, sleeps, and breathes bike fitting. Of course, he has help from his Havanese dog Rocky. Some say Rocky has the brains and Tim has the muscle. Never the less the fit comes out perfect every time. Tim is certified as an advanced Serotta fitter, Fit Kit, FIST and more. We have spent this spring training Tim on the Retul system as he was already an expert with Dart Fish. Tim started with Maplewood Bicycle about eight years ago and has thousands of professional fitting sessions with just as many blown away clients.
